That would be Old Man River, the Mighty Muddy aka Mississippi River.
We are in Hannibal, MO. If that sounds familiar to you, then you must be a Mark Twain fan. We are at a great campground called Mark Twain Landing. We have a shady spot, full hook-up, and (ta-dah) great water pressure!

e WHOLE town. It was a 1 hr ride on the "Mark Twain". Nice boat, but the stern wheel is fake; But, we did see a real stern wheeler as the American Queen was in port.

neat and the captain had lots to say about the sights and the area. Like ne
arly every town along the Mississippi, there is a lover's leap, so we got the whole story of the Indian lovers who jumped because her father forbade their love - yada-yada. There were 4 barges of grain anchored nearby. Even though their load would fill 35 miles of semi trucks, they still looked small compared to what we saw in the Great Lakes. Notice the flat area under Lover's Leap? That was a very busy rail road yard until they got tired of it flooding and moved it 16 miles away, where it flooded this spring!

merican Queen moved out of port (break my heart). It was really something to see that large boat move out. They have a steam calliope that plays and after they get into the channel, they lower the stacks (don't want to hit hi-tension wires). That was really something to see, I had no idea they could do that. If you look close at the picture on the left you can see the steam coming out of hte Calliope. I'd have thought it wouuld be verly LOUD for the people sitting right under the pipes.

Someone (sorry can't remember who) told us to eat at the Old Planters Restaurant, have the pork loin, and be sure and have pie. Well, we did that, except Momma Traveler had veggie plate, and want to thank whoever it was told me that. The food was really good! First time I ever had peach cream pie, now I need to get the recipe.
After that, we went to the Mark Twain Museum and boyhood home. It is really a nice exhibit. TM is posting pictures to show you some of the displays.

After a fun and tiring day, we came home to anxious-to-get-out Traveling Dog, or was it to Traveling Dog anxious to get out?

Wow! Super cool...the river is definitely muddy:) Your camping spot looks nice...I can see TW thru the window, but no TD (I like when he's in the shot).
