Cameron Cave is in the same complex and it seemed like a better tour. We were right. First of all, it has not been "upgraded", there are no electric lights or paved paths, or funny signs. We took lanterns and followed our guide with his flashlight. (They furnished the lanterns.) We were part of a group of 25, which we thought might be too big, but it went ok. The cave is beautiful with lots of color in the walls from different minerals. The gypsum has made for some lovely glitter along the path walls. TM was impressed by the many beautiful shapes along the paths.
There is only one "WET room on the tour, but it is beautiful! Blow these up for a better view.

ces where you see other paths divide from the main path; but if yo
u look, you will notice that they have not been traveled. Some of them go on into the complex of caves where you will most likely get lost. Any number of them end in either a sheer drop, or a long slide. Either way, you need a rope to get out (we had no ropes with us).Our guide was
really good, with a good sense of humor and very relaxed. This w
as his last day since he gets to go back to teaching high school Spanish next week. He said he likes the cave tours best because the people are more attentive. Imagine that! Part of the reason for being attentive was the fact that none of us knew how to get out of the place AND there were bats in the place.After the tour, TM and I drove to Lovers Leap to check out the view. It is an expansive view. I think you can see half of Illinois. The Mark Twain tour boat was on the river and we got some good pictures of that. The sky was so perfect, I had to take pics of that (hope they turn out). This is TM, they did turn out and were included in an earlier post.
I definitely recommend a visit to Hannibal for anyone; it hasn't been very crowded, there is much to see (if you are a Mark Twain fan) and is quite relaxed and friendly.,
