For anyone that may possibly be still checking this site, sorry for the long hiatus.
Our weeks in Knoxville just flew by. Suddenly there was only a week to go and tons of stuff to be done! I think we did remember to pack everything, it was mostly the visiting with friends we didn't manage to finish. Our friend Al, had surgery while we were there and is still recuperating. Sure did miss seeing him and his sweet wife. We did get to visit with Liz and Tim one evening and had a great time. They are so fun. We had a great dinner with Norris and Sally one evening (after Norris had recuperated from overworking his back) and enjoyed so much hearing about all they have been doing - especially hearing about their grandson, Bishop. I did get to see Brenda several times and saw Nita a couple of times. And we spent some time with Doug and Glo. But there were just so many folks we didn't see and really wanted to. Where do the days go? Anyway, I will be adding snippets of things we did manage to do off and on for a while.
Meantime, we left this morning and drove to Dahlonega, GA. Wanted to get out between 10-10:30 and actually were on the road at 10:27. How about that!?
Apryl and Jeremy left the house just before us. They were headed up to Frozen Head State Park. Talked to her tonight and they really enjoyed their day. Didn't have to carry Cleo any!
Anyway, just after they left the power went off at the house. We were glad all the garage doors were down. When we got on Kingston Pike, we found there had been an accident in front of Cokesbury Church and the road was completely blocked. That meant we had to turn around and make our way over to Parkside Dr. in order to get to Farragut and the trailer. Luckily traffic had not started to back up so we were able to do that quickly and easily.
We took Interstate 75 to the Sweetwater exit (60) and then got onto route 68 (I think). What ever the number, it was a beautiful drive. Such a gorgeous day with bright sunlight and the trees just starting to change. Later we got on route 129, which is very curvy - not kidding, VERY curvy!!! TM likes to make those curves with the rear tires right on the white line at the side of the road, therefore keeping me somewhat breathless. I am following the the Mazda and there wasn't enough traffic to get someone between us, even if there had been a place for them to pass. Finally, I did get in front of TM and that was a bit easier on my nerves. Traveling Dog was just not much help. I think he is pouting because Momma Traveler is not with us, so nobody is petting him all the time and letting him lay his head on her lap.
We are at R Ranch in the Mountains Resort. It is really nice with big lots and concrete pads. They have horses on property with trail rides every day. Don't know that we will do a ride though since we aren't here but a couple of days.
TM did get some photos this evening of the sunset and the campsite, so he should post those soon. Actually, from here there is no real view of the sunset, but here is a shot of the small portion of the camp ground we are in and a shot of Pat taken on our drive around and out of Cade's Cove D.E.C.
Now it is bed time.
