since returning from Diana. Traveling man goes every morning to spend time with his mom at the rehab center. He usually gets home anytime between noon and 2p. His mother's dementia seems to be getting worse. Physical therapy has helped strengthen her legs but she still can't walk more than a couple of steps unassisted. She has to have help getting as far as the bathroom and, you know in a hospital room it isn't far to the bathroom.
Consequently we have decided to forgo Michigan this summer and stay in Knoxville - where it has been hot, hot, hot. Sure hope we have come cooler days coming. We are at the Escapees campground here and it is nice. I do like having a pool available. Also there is social hour every afternoon at 4p and ice cream on Sundays. It is good to spend more time with our church family and friends here also.
Our 50th high school reunion went well. Everyone had a good time. Why is it that the old high school seems so much smaller that it was 50 years ago? It was wonderful to see so many old classmates, even if we didn't recognize them! Hurrah for name tags! Friday night was casual, meet-and-greet and open mike. Fun listening to some of the memories and Fred's lame jokes. Saturday night was more formal (but still had lame jokes) and there were even more people there. Our class president gave a nice speech and issued a challenge to us. Our main speaker had to cancel at the last minute because of illness. Though we missed him, the time was put to good use socializing and some were dancing. Kudos to those who worked hard putting all this together. It was great fun and I am sorry for those who missed it.
Guess that is about all for now.

What a Gathering!
at Diana. A number of campers and lots of work to be done. The first week was mainly the heavy work; like moving the pews and repairing some of the buildings and painting. I let Don work on that. There was also opening and stocking the gift shop. A number of the things that were left from Sept. were already priced, but there was new stuff coming in all the time to be priced and displayed. As things came in our displays had to moved and/or rearranged. Actually it was kind of fun; especially since being there early and doing the work got you first dibs on the stuff. I picked up a number of things.
The first week was the Gospel Meeting. Robert Hatfield was the evangelist. A very talented young man and well-grounded in the scriptures. It was great to get to know him and his wife, Emily.
The last couple of days before the singing was the "last minute" stuff. Helped put out song books and receive and stock items in the ham shed.
One of the fun things we did when not busy in the gift shop was work puzzles. It had been so long since I had done puzzles that I felt pretty useless at first. But I was soon in the swing of things.
Friday night, June 8, was amazing! There were about 2,000 people there to sing. To me, the greatest gospel music is ACapella. We bought the recordings for that night's singing. (Also made good money in the ham shed and gift shop.)
Saturday was not quite as good. Probably had only 700 people show up, but they were still enthusiastic in their singing.
Sunday after services and potluck, it was time to put things away and close up until Sept. We also broke down much of our camp, as rain was expected.
We drove home on Monday. We had a couple of short, but intense showers; otherwise was mostly cloudy and some sprinkles.
Was a great couple of weeks that went by quickly.

Diana
We had a busy week in Knoxville. All kinds of this and that to do. TM spent some nights with his mom and then spent all day Saturday over there.
Friday, Apryl, Joanna (her neighbor) and I went to Spirted Art and painted a picture of a peacock feather. Mine turned out ok. I put in some white even tho they didn't tell us to use white, and I think it makes it pop more. Apryl and Joanna are more experienced at this painting thing -and more artistic than I am. We had fun. I spent Fri. night at Apryl's and Sat. we did some shopping. First we had a color change on our toes, then we hit Stinemart and Off-Broadway Shoes. Then we went to Gigi's cupcakes. Hard to pick out just one. We were going to Nita's to pick up some plants when we realized we didn't want to take the new car over there. Went back to the house and got the Volvo since it was already dirty. Sure glad we did that as the plants made a bit of a mess in the trunk. Nothing that vacuuming won't take care of.
After I dropped her off, I went to Buddy's and picked up bar-b-q for TM, Mom and me. Then I went home.
Sunday after services we went to Panera for brunch with our friends Doug and Glo. We had a delightful time with them, as always. Then Sunday night we went to Lakeside Tavern with Apryl, Jeremy and some other friends. Had a great time there also.
Monday morning we were up early to get closed up and head for Diana TN. TM drove the truck and I followed in the Volvo. We had a safe trip even if I was sleepy.
So here we are, in the heat, helping prepare for the Singing on the 8th and 9th. We are supposed to get some cooler weather this weekend. Sure hope that weatherman is right.

Spring Lake
Had a nice Mother's Day with brunch at Panera. Spent the afternoon with my mil.
Tuesday had lunch with my friends Brenda and Nita.
Then on Wednesday morning we headed to Spring Lake RV Park in Crossville TN to spend 4 days. Those days just flew by. We were camping with our friends Dave and Patti. They made the reservations after telling us that this was their favorite campground. Let me tell you it is beautiful there. There is a spring-fed small lake and lots of shade. We also got the Escapees rate of 15% off!
Mostly we sate in the shade and chatted. TD2 enjoyed himself too since he spent most of his time in someone's lap. Patti and Dave have 2 dogs so we all enjoyed walking around the campground.
One morning TM and I went to the outlet mall. Friday evening we all went to Cumberland Mountain State Park restaurant for catfish buffet. Yum.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights we had nice campfires. The campground has plenty of firewood at no charge. The nights were cool enough to make the fires really enjoyable. On Thursday we roasted marshmallows. TM had picked them up at the store, but forgot the Hershey's and graham crackers. I am sure the marshmallows were bad enough for us without the other.
We are now back at Raccoon Valley and it rained today.
God bless

Knoxville Week 2
Well, we had our doctor appointments first thing Monday morning. All looks good. Dr. Danner's office had sent the information about my ear surgery here, so I did not have to explain that. But Dr. Suleman's office had not sent anything about my echo and TEE, so I was glad I had gotten that info from him and just give it to Dr. Harmon instead of having to try and explain it. I told him how much it hurt when they gave me the potassium by IV. He was surprised they didn't just prescribe some pills. Later in the week I got all the blood test results and they all are good.
I gave platelets on Tuesday morning. Thought about going to lunch with Brenda afterwards, but didn't feel real good so went on home. TM was there so we went and got something to eat. Felt much better after that.
Wed. TM went to his mom's about 4:30, so missed Bible class. I went to supper at the church and then to Ladies Class. It was pretty interesting, but I missed a lot of what others said due to the poor acoustics. Yes, I had my hearing aids in.
Thursday had lunch with my friends Brenda and Nita. As usual, we had a good time together.
Thursday evening I called our friend Al about our plans for lunch on Friday. He called back with an unpleasant surprise. His wife had a heart attack (the docs call it minor) and was still in the hospital with pneumonia. Praying for her to rally quickly.
We spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at Apryl's. We were keeping the dogs so that Apryl and Jeremy could go to Virginia. He had some cousins visiting from Norway and they went up there to visit with the cousins.
TM spent a lot of time working on the platform for our chairs in the toy hauler portion of the trailer. It is finished and works well. We still need to stain it. Don't know when we will get around to that.

Knoxville week 1
Easy trip in and got a prime spot at Raccoon Valley Escapees Park. Gonna hate to give it up in a couple of weeks.
Made a call to Dr. Rogers on Monday. Since he couldn't see me until the 14th, I asked for med refills. Got a call back within the hour that they had an opening on Tues at 1:40. Grabbed that one. Then I call the allergist for a med refill and they wanted to see me (popular aren't I?) so made a Tues appt. for 4:30. If that isn't enough, had a birthday party to go to at 2:30. Made for a busy day.
The party was for a man at church who turned 90. What a great guy and doing so well. He is still building dulcimers and other things in his wood shop.
TM is staying with his mother at night to give his sisters family a break. That means TD2 and I have the rig to ourselves. Took me a couple of nights to start sleeping well. TD2 had problems also, he thinks we should all be together.
Had lunch with my friend, Brenda, on Thursday. It was so good to be with her again. And to eat at Copper Cellar, where they have the best strawberry shortcake, yum.
Saturday we moved over to Apryl's to be closer to our doctor's office because our appts are early on Monday. TD2 already messed up, he peed in the bedroom. So it will be the cage whenever we don't have him in our sight. Actually he was good, but then we all left he had to let us know he was not happy. At least I guess that is what it was.
That's about it for now.

Things got better
After several days of rain and chilly weather, we decided we needed to do more than lay around the trailer. So we went into Lenoir to the Caldwell Co. Heritage Museum. Very nicely done museum. We enjoyed so much reading the history and seeing the exhibits downstairs. Upstairs was a school room with several trophies and books (mostly of the 1930 - 1950 eras). Also there was a room devoted to their high school band. Lots of uniforms and more trophies. They had and still have an amazing band, from what we saw.
Upstairs was also a military room; uniforms and awards going back to the era of the War Between the States. Traveling Man had flashbacks as we looked at the uniforms like he wore when first in the USAF. If you like military history, and we do, it was a great room.
There is a room of "antique" toys. Many of them were before our time, but many of them we remembered playing with. Guess we are getting close to being antiques.
When we came out of the museum, it had turned into a beautiful day. We thought about going to Blowing Rock, but decided there was still a chance of rain, so maybe not. Good choice, it started raining again just after we got back to the trailer.
Friday was a great day. The weather was perfect. We did go to Blowing Rock and it was definitely blowing! What a great view. We were excited to find that TD2 (Fancy) could be with us. He had a good time out on the rocks, except he didn't like the high winds very much. He liked the gift shop though since he got lots of attention.
We went from there to Fort Defiance, the home of General William Lenoir. Gen. Lenoir was in the Revoluntionary war and bought the property during that time. There once was a fort there, which is how the house got its name, but no one knows exactly where it was. The house has more original pieces than any other historical home in the Carolinas. The home and much of the furniture was designed by Gen. Lenoir. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic that it made the tour just great.
All together a nice couple of days.
Sat. off to Knoxville.
God Bless.

Lenoir
Went yesterday to Goodwill Store. Scored a new blouse, a book on CD and a Tupperware deviled egg container. For less than $10, that isn’t so bad.
After lunch and, of course, Walmart, we headed back to the campground. On the way we saw some wild turkey. The Tom was really showing off and was beautiful to look at. Sure wish we had gotten a pic, but he took off before we could.

Busy couple of weeks
From Woodbine, GA, we went to Lexington, SC. The campground was right next to a huge flea market. Definitely got our exercise for the day walking thru there! Even bought some veggies. Barnyard is a really nice campground. We had a large, shaded lot.
Sunday morning we went to services at Lexington Church of Christ. It was a different experience. Most of the songs we had not heard before and they had been arranged by the preacher there. At least the words and the music were on the powerpoint. The preacher for the day was the youth minister. He did a multi-media presentation and it was pretty good. We did not stay for the potluck.
Monday morning we were up bright and early to head for Marion, NC and the SKP ACRE rally. Our timing getting there was good, as it wasn't raining and we got a spot close the the pavilion where all the activities were held. We got set up and then at 4pm, met at the pavilion with the other early arrivals. So good to see friends there and immediately make new friends.
Each day of the rally there were seminars held. TM attended more of them than I did, but all were good. The evening socials were a fun time - even if we didn't win any door prizes. Oh well, that wasn't why we came.
On Thursday, many people went to Biltmore for a tour. For the others of us it was a free day for sight-seeing. We toured around Marion, which is a pretty little town, and had lunch out.
On Tuesday and Saturday nights we had a catered dinner. The food was excellent. And each time we sat with different people and enjoyed meeting them. One couple was very interested in hearing about Peace Creek (where we spent the winters). Hopefully they will be our neighbors this winter.
At the Sat. night bonfire, we had some men playing and singing. They were good and it was a fun time. The last thing of the evening was a movie called "The Many Faces of Old Glory". Extremely interesting. He told the history of the British flag and then continued over the the different American flags. In doing so, he had to tell the history of the revolution. Fascinating and heartwarming. Wish more people could see this film.
Now we are in Lenoir, NC. Mostly we are just chilling - but not the way we meant to! There has been some cold, windy, wet weather. Hoping it gets better before the week is out. And that it is pretty when we go to Knoxville.

Georgia on my mind
Woodbine, GA near St. Marys. The weather is awesome.
We drove in on Thursday. Going thru Orlando, I-4 was backed up, but our awesome GPS showed us a detour and we missed most of the traffic. :)
We spend most of Friday doing, umm, oh, nothing. Friday night we went to the Woodbine Opry and had a great time. Being Good Friday, it was mostly dedicated to gospel music. Loved it. One man did do "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and sounded so much like Willie Nelson. When we first started going to the Opry, there was a kid named Jackson, who would sing his heart out whenever he was on stage. Well, he is about 11 now and still singing his heart out. Also playing the guitar, mandolin, fiddle, bass and banjo. What talent.
Saturday we did a lot of the same stuff we did on Friday, except for the opry.
Sunday morning we went to church services in Kingsland. Small congregation, but oh so friendly. The preacher there is very good, so we enjoyed Bible class and the preaching service. Also enjoyed the evening service.
Today we took the scooter and went to Folkston to see the trains go by. TM got some good photos. We stopped to eat at the Okefenokee Restaurant, which is a buffet, and ate a bit more than we should have. No supper tonight.
TD2 (Fancy)is getting used to the "unusual" sounds around us. Remember he has only really been at Peace Creek and was used to everything there. So things here are strange to him. By and large he is being a good boy.
Oh yes, did make the doctor appointment on Tuesday and got a good report on the healing of my ear. He wasn't too happy with the results of the hearing test, but it is a little early. Normally 12 weeks post-surgery and this was only 9 weeks. Will go back in Nov. and hope for a better test. Now I just have to remember to "pop" my ears 3 times a day.

Packing up
Got all the goodies on the truck (window tint, vent visors, etc) and have loaded it down with all our "stuff". Sometimes you would think we live in the truck instead of the trailer. :)
Monday we went to Clermont for lunch with Richard, Shari, Mike and Rita. We hung around Richard's house until Amanda came home from school so we could say good-bye to her. It was a nice day, but we didn't get a whole lot done around here. Well, Don got some stuff put away outside.
Tuesday was Tampa day. Had a hearing test and saw Dr. Danner. He is not happy with the hearing in my ear, but it was about 3 weeks earlier than they usually test after surgery. I have an appointment Nov. 15 to redo the test and see if there have been good changes. We also stopped by Camping World and Sam's Club.
So, here it is Wed. and we are down to the wire. Fancy is at the groomer and we have the motorcycle loaded. Most of the stuff that I have to do inside has to wait til the last minute, but it goes quickly. The majority will be done tonite at bedtime.
Tomorrow morning we head out for Walkabout RV Campground in St. Marys, GA.
No real news otherwise. God Bless

March marches on
And I am way behind in my blogging.
On Saturday, 3/10, Michael and Sheila drove over to visit and finally see the new trailer. Michael also worked on our internet router and stuff. Made a difference. We took them to Andrea's Restaurant for Greek food. We all enjoyed the day.
On Saturday, 3/17, we drove to Merritt Island to spend even more time with them. We ate at Milliken's Reef and had wonderful seafood and sweet potato fries. Yum. Then the men went back to the house and Sheila and I went shopping. Thrift shopping that is. Had a good time. I got 3 blouses and a pair of slacks. For Don I got a pair of slack, shorts, and 3 shirts. With all that, I spent less than $20. Sheila got some good deals for her and Michael also.
Early in the month, Michelle was home for break. She was here such a short time we didn't even get to see her. Should not feel bad, Sheila didn't get to see her either. Sheila was in a class in Texas. But Sheila will be in DC in a week or so and get to see her then. Michelle is doing her work/study with the DA office there.
The other exciting thing was our truck having a little snitfit and quitting. We were in Haines City going to pick up my records from the cardiologist. As we left a red light, Don said we have a problem. I'm just sitting there without a clue, when I saw him struggling to turn the wheel. Right, no power steering and no power breaks. Thank goodness for our Good Sam membership. We quickly had a tow truck to take it to the Dodge dealer. Our water pump had quit making the belt slip off and Dodge could get it fixed the next day. So they let Don drive a new 2011 truck home. Yep, we now have a new 2011 truck. They gave us a good trade and a good price. It really was time to trade as we had nearly 62,000 miles on it. And most of that was pulling a heavy trailer.
So here we are with a new truck a new trailer and a new dog. Guess I really need to update the pics on this blog. However since I have a new computer, I don't have access those pics yet.

Good few days
On Tuesday, we met our friends Shirley and Arthur for lunch. They are from KY and we know them thru church. We had a nice meal and a delightful visit. They are trying to talk us into stopping overnight at Mt. Sterling on our way to MI this summer. Would love to do it, but we will have to look at our schedule. At least we hope to stop for a visit.
Wed. night Bible class we finished studying Titus and had some pretty good discussion. Couple of points I didn't exactly think we stuck with the context, but they were good points to make. We went to eat afterwards with Manuel and Jeannie. Frank and Chris joined us a little later. Frank and Chris just got back from Elizabethton, TN and were sure glad the beat the bad weather.
Today was our Escapees RV club meeting. Really like the Golden Corral, but there are just too many good choices. Tend to eat a "little" more than we should. We enjoyed sitting with the Giffords and finding out a more about them. She said she was from upstate NY, near Albany. I laughed and said that's not upstate - Plattsburgh is upstate. She had to agree. In case you don't know, to New Yorkers anything that is not the NYC is upstate.
Thought about stopping to get my hair cut, but decided to wait. I am trying to put it off until just before we leave here, but don't know if I can make it or not. Starting to really bother me. Fancy is getting a haircut next week; he definitely cannot wait! We will also get him a cut just before we leave.
About all the excitement for now.

The weekend
was pretty nice. Sunday was a cloudy, grey day and just a little cool. It was a lot windy. But since we were privileged to meet with the saints and worship God, it was a perfect day!
I am missing my sister and feeling a little low tonight. Guess I will just head for bed.

Enjoying life
On Saturday, after sleeping in (good-bye morning walk)we pretty much had a lazy day. Did get a few things done around the place, but nothing spectacular.
Around 4p, we went by and picked up two ladies and headed to Mt. Dora. There was a fund-raising dinner at the Christian Home and Bible School there and we all had tickets. What a pretty little town Mt. Dora is.
Really enjoyed the ride and talking with them. TM took the scenic route and we saw some beautiful country. Yes, TD2 went along. He was so good and didn't try to get in the back and bother the ladies. He did sit where they could reach him though. The only thing later was he kept trying to get over under TM's feet. I kept reminding him to stay under my feet.
The gym there was beautifully set up with the school colors of blue and white. It was great to see friends from Wildwood and the Diana Singing. The meal was so-so. The veggies were good, but the chicken had a sauce I didn't care for. So I mostly just scraped the sauce off and ate the chicken anyway. The entertainment was some students singing songs from their latest production. Lots of talent there. The quilt auction was fun to watch. It brought in about $10,000. for the scholarship fund. No, we did not do any bidding - just a little steep for our pocketbooks.
Again we were out til after midnight by the time we drove back and dropped off our 2 ladies. It was really hard to tumble out of bed the next morning. But did not have any desire to miss church services.

Fun times
On Friday night we drove to Lakeland to have dinner with John and Carolyn Ellington. We went to high school with John, in fact he and I rode the same school bus. We had not seen them in (ahem)a number of years. We met Carolyn at our 10 year reunion, but had not seen either of them since. What a sweet lady she is.
Naturally we spent time bragging, er, talking about our children and grandchildren. Exchanged a picture or 2 (or 3 or 4).
Carolyn prepared a delicious meal (I could have taken seconds because it tasted so good, but I didn't want to overeat).
We did a lot of catching up on what each of us had been doing over the years and the places we have lived. It was delight to get to know Carolyn better and find out how much we have in common.
John has done a lot better job of keeping up with our high school buddies than we have, so we spent quite a bit of time talking and learning about them. With our 50th reunion coming up, it is fun to find out what people have done with their lives.
If all this doesn't tell you we had a good time - we arrived there at 6p and left about 11:30p! Good thing we had brought TD2 with us. Of course, he got to stay and guard the truck and not come in and see their beautiful home.
Carolyn is an accomplished artist. Many of her paintings hang in their home and are just striking.
All in all a good time. All 3 of us slept in on Saturday morning. :)

Our exciting life.
Just a normal couple of days.
Good to finally get back to my morning walks with Pauline, even if I do have to get up at 7:30. Good for me.
Today has been a beautiful day. Got plenty warm early, but never did get real hot. Just the way we like it.
TM had his doc appt. to recheck his shoulder where he had his cortisone shot. All is well, everything reacting just as it should.
Went to get my toes done, but didn't happen. Too much waiting time. Guess I won't go back to Wal-mart unless I see the place is empty. Also I didn't like someone else getting served when they had been waiting less time than I have. So I left and I let them know why.
Mid-week Bible study was interesting. First off, our preacher had to get to the hospital since his blood pressure was high and his heart was racing. He is doing ok, just will be wearing a heart monitor for a few days. Anyway, he just handed off his lesson to one of the men. Poor guy, totally unprepared and this was not a lesson to be unprepared for. The subject was "Are there degrees in Heaven and hell?". This is definitely something to create a lot of discussion. Several good comments, but much more study needs to be done.
TD2, Fancy, continues to keep us entertained. The number of positions that he can get into and still seem comfortable appear to be unending.
Guess that is all I can think of for now.
God Bless.

Rally
Arrived at Lazy Days late on Monday for the rally starting on Tuesday. Tuesday morning up early for free breakfast. Lazy Days provides free breakfast and lunch for campers. Nice little perk and the food was good.
Our chapter does "adoptions". Anyone who is at a Chapter 57 rally for the first time is adopted by another member. TM and I adopted Becky and Lonnie, a couple from Montana. Nice and fun couple. I am enjoying their emails about their travels and about Becky's daughter traveling in Thailand.
Thursday we caravaned to Tarpon Springs and had a good time. Riding with us were Joe and Yolande from Sudbury, Ontario. Enjoyed their company Tarpon Springs is sort of a mini-Gatlinburg tourist place. A century ago, Greek people came over and began sponge diving. Unfortunately, it is not much of a business anymore. But they have made the most of the area with boat trips, Greek restaurants and tourist shops. We did not go on a boat trip as we felt the day was too cool to be out on the water. We ate at the Parthenon Restaurant because it was the first place I saw serving lamb. Wonderful food.
It was so good to be with friends and make new friends.
We came back on Saturday, hooked up and rested. Getting up every day at 7am is not our usual.
Oh, and TD2 (Fancy) had a good time too. He got to go to Tarpon Springs with us. Of course he was mostly in the truck, but he was a good boy.
Today, Monday, I got to sleep in - yahoo! Felt really good - and felt good to take an afternoon nap. We sure are spoiled. We will see how tomorrow goes when we have to be up at 5:30am. Ugh! Definitely in for a nap tomorrow afternoon.

It has been a while
Between just not feeling like writing and computer problems, it has been too long since I wrote.
Can say it has been a relatively quiet time though. We had a nice Christmas with Sheila, Michael, Michelle, and Mary. As always we miss Apryl and Jeremy.
In January, I once more saw the ear doc for an infection. Due to the hole in my eardrum that will not close, he sent me to their surgeon. He took a look and decided that he was not prepared to do the surgery necessary for the position my hole is in. (Bet you always knew I had a hole in my head. :)). After an MRI and a couple of CT scans, I was off to Tampa to see the surgeon there. He didn't even hesitate in saying I needed the surgery and explaining to us what was involved. So,on Jan 13, I scheduled surgery for Jan 23. Pretty fast work. On the 19th I had to be there at 8am for pre-op stuff. Remember, it is a 2 hr drive from Winter Haven. Ugh, up at 5am; but so glad I have a driver who lets me sleep. Love you, TM! The day of surgery I didn't have to be there til 11am - sounds good, but remember I was fasting. Sheila came over from Merritt Island to be there and Mary (granddaughter) was also there. Mary is in school in Tampa, so Sheila had come over the day before and spent the night with Mary.
I got into surgery pretty much on time, but it was a longer surgery than planned. Seems my ear canal had collapsed, 2 bones had to be replaced in addition to rebuilding the eardrum. All I know is I woke up hurting and dying to go to the bathroom. Both things quickly and easily solved. It was then I realized I was hungry. Got some juice and graham crackers to tide me over. On the way home we stopped at Panera in Lakeland, yum.
Right now (Feb 10) we are in Tampa again; but for fun stuff. It is an Escapee Rally and is a good time. Will write about it later.
