Cars

3,000 of them paraded down the boardwalk of Ocean City MD, beginning about 7:30am. The day was fairly overcast, but that didn't stop the fun. Don and I had already breakfasted and were there to watch. Needless to say these people are proud of their cars. Lots of manhours working hard. We walked along the line of cars just amazed at what people had done. Despite the age of the cars, the owner/drivers were in every age group from about late 20's to at least 70's. If any driver realized you were wanting a good shot, they would stop the car for you to get it. Of course they weren't going 10 mph anyway!
We met up with Lance and Norma as they were finishing their breakfast. Then did more car gazing. Around 9am, Don had to tear himself away - and it wasn't easy - so we could get on the road. We look forward to seeing the Brauns at the reunion in June.
We drove down the Eastern Shore of MD/VA aka the Delmarva peninsula. It is so beautiful, even on a cloudy, rainy day.
We could not remember the name of the great restaurant where we ate when we were in Cape Charles in 2001. But, we recognized it when we saw it! It is called Stingray's and has been written up in Southern Living mag. Don't really think of a restaurant were you order at the counter plus it is part of a gas station being written up in SL do you? They still have great food, so we enjoyed our lunch.
Guess who drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel? Me, me, me. For those who don't know, I really don't like bridges. But, hey, Don wanted to take pictures and I just couldn't even begin to think of the shape I would be in if he drove and took pictures! It was a good crossing and he got pics he wanted. We only saw 1 ship this time.
I gave Don back the wheel at the end of the bridge so he could drive thru Norfolk. Ha, you surely didn't think I was going to do that part did you?
We continued down to the outer banks, specifially Kill Devil Hills, NC. The Wright Brothers Memorial is there. Since it was still raining we pretty much stayed in the hotel. However, we were simply not going to have a hotel on the beach and not walk the beach. So we wrapped up in our jacket and hats and fought the wind. And there was wind - cold wind. We walked into the wind for about 1/2 mile When my nose started to go numb, I turned around. Going with the wind behind us was not nearly so bad, but we were sure glad to get to the room.
Altogether, a good day. We know that area needed the rain, so didn't mind that; but it could have been warmer!
