Back on Line

Well, we spent some time where we had no phone or internet connection. We were able to drive a short ways and have phone connection, but the internet was a lost cause. But we're back for now.
We have been in Mountain View, AR. A sweet town, that's a bit like stepping back in time. However, it was really hot! We had hoped for cooler weather in the mountains, but I guess they weren't high enough.
We took the scooter in to town on Sat. evening to listen to the music. There are informal groups that form on the square, in the park, and other places just to play. Really liked the blue grass! The gospel singer was good too. Despite the heat, there were lots of people there. We really enjoyed it. We did jump on the scooter to get home before dark.
Sunday morning, we attended services at the Highway Church of Christ, which was just a short ride away. We hooked up with Bill & Chris McAlister, who are friends of the Ken & Jean Flake from Winter Haven. Our timing was also good in that the congregation had a potluck that day. How great to make new friends, praise God and have good (free) food. The evening service was singing. Afterwards, several people went to Hardees and asked us along. It was a fun day.
On Monday morning, we rode the scooter to Calico Rock - about 17 miles - had some ice cream and came back to the house before it got too awfully hot.
We were up at 6:30 to break camp. Know how hot it was to be, we really wanted to get it done before we melted. Of course, when we got to Linn Creek, Mo, it was 3:30 in the afternoon, so we did as little as we could get away with to set up. Left the rest for morning.
Due to the heat, we haven't been out much. Wed. night we went to Camdenton Church of Christ. We had been here with the Woodall's in Oct. 2007 and a few people remembered us. They are in the midst of VBS and having a pretty good response. Their cowboy roundup theme is great.
All is going well for now. IF the Heat would just dissipate!
God Bless
