Into the Way Back Machine

Well, I left you all when we arrived in FL on May 16.  EEKK, how long ago was that!!!
We had a nice week there, even if it did rain every day.  It was good to go scrapbooking and lunch with Mellan and Richard.  Also to see everyone at Winter Haven on Wed. night.
The villas where we stayed were very nice.  We got free breakfast a couple of days, a free barbeque lunch.  We played some mini-golf.  And we just relaxed.
On Tues, Sheila and I went to lunch and did some shopping.  We had a nice day together - again, despite the rain.
Friday, the 22nd was the big day.  Mary's birthday and graduation.  We got to their house around 4pm - you guessed it - in the rain.  The grad is held on the football field.  Guests are in the bleachers, and parents in seats on the field.  You just can't do that in the rain.  The school had announced that if it was raining at 7, they would defer the ceremonies til 8.  Then if it was still raining, it would be held in the auditorium and only parents could attend.
When we got to the house, I told Mary that it just didn't look like we would get to see her graduate.  We were both pretty bummed.  Around 5:30, the rain stopped!  Don't get me wrong, it didn't get sunny and blue skies, but NO rain.  So we did get to go to the grad, because the rain did not start again until around 10.    She looked great going across that stage - our honor grad!
Afterwards, we went back to the house and had cake to celebrate (chocolate cake with strawberries).  Michelle was home, plus family friends Ken and Eric were there.  Oops, better mention boyfriend Kyle.
Afterwards Mary and Kyle went off to spend the night together - at Project Graduation with about 150 other people!  They had a good time.
Sunday we had to check out of the villa by 10a, so were not able to go to church services.  So we called Mellan and had lunch with her, Richard, Shari and Amanda.  We went to Chili's where we had a surly waitress and I had to send my steak back.  The good part is we got my lunch for free (as well we should have).
God Bless
