We left Marquette on Thursday, Aug 11. Wed, 8/10, we were feeling pretty low but knew that meeting for Bible study would be the best thing we could do. After a really good class on 1 Peter, they had an ice cream social to say good-by to us. It was a total surprise and we were humbled that they would do that for us. We have so enjoyed being a part of the Marquette Church of Christ for almost 2 months.
We went from Marquette to Gresham WI. At the campground there wi-fi was almost non existent. It is a very nice campground though. We attended Sunday services there and enjoyed being with a good group of people. Not a really large congregation, but there were a number of young families there which is very encouraging. As we left, someone had brought 2 large bags of corn for whoever wanted any. We took 4 ears and, boy, were they good.
Our next stop was in Belvidere, IL. Enjoyed the campground there also. Never did get around to getting in their olympic size pool.
Here we are in Litchfield, IL at Honey Bend Campground. We were here in 2008 and really liked the campground. Last time we backed up onto a corn field and had some nice fresh corn, but this time they have planted soybeans. Don't think we will be bothering those! We are enjoying hearing the trains go by. Church service was interesting. I think there were 10 people there, including us. We had singing, communion and Bible study. There is no preacher, so 2 of the men swap out teaching. Everyone was friendly and it was nice to meet them.
Tuesday our plan is to drive to Sullivan, IL and visit with a couple we knew in Guam. So looking forward to spending time with them.
This afternoon we played 18 holes of golf. We didn't keep score, but I think we finished about even. You do realize it was mini-golf, right?
Guess that about catches us up. Not exciting, but we are well and content and that seems to be exciting enough for us right now.
God Bless.
