What a wild ride! As we started up the mountain there was a sign warning us to use the truck route. Ok, another twisty mountain road. The passenger (me) thought it looked narrow, but the driver (TM) said it was plenty wide. Then the GPS took us on the back roads thru town-another challenge. The campground (when we finally got there) had small lots, but such nice people. I think we got the best lot. Our back window had a marvelous view of the mountains and the cemetery.
The next day we went to Carson City via the auto route and found out why they have a truck route. As we went down the steep grade all thoughts of taking the trailer out that way flew right out of our heads. It is quicker and would probably be quicker still with thousands of pounds of trailer pushing us. Nope, not a good idea.
It was much warmer in Carson City, so we made the drug connection (Walgreens) and got our Wal-mart fix and headed back to cooler weather. Forgot all about going to the state museum to see their Merci Car - maybe another time.
On the way back we stopped at the Chocolate Nugget and got some great fudge. Believe me, if you are in the area stop there and have some fudge. It is the best I have ever bought.
By the way, we drove thru the Bonneville Salt Flats. They are salty and flat.:)
