Memorial Day

Monday, we pretty much goofed off in the morning. We went and did some grocery shopping around noon. Around 2p, we left for Woodstock, VA., to see our friends, Lance and Norma. They also happen to be Apryl's inlaws.
It was a breathtakingly beautiful day, so the drive was delightful. We also had no trouble finding their house. We arrived a little early, but they didn't seem to mind. We parked in a shady spot and left Traveling Dog next to the truck with some water.
We spent some time just visiting and looking at their great treetop view. Then Lance fired up the barbeque and fixed some good burgers and dogs. At dinner, I asked him about when his dad came to the US. What an interesting story that is. His dad came over from Germany after WWI.
Anyway, after the delicious meal (these folks can really put on a wonderful spread), we all piled into the cars to take the back road back to our campground. I rode with Lance and Norma and got a lot of info about the area. Just as we arrived at Camp Roosevelt - the first CCC camp - it really started to rain, so we did not get out of the cars. Would like to go back there sometime, as it looked really interesting. As we arrived at the area overlooking Luray and the valley, it was still raining, so we didn't see that beautiful view - but we will take their word for it. Norma told of meeting a bear one morning just as she came out of the fog (on top of the mountain). Scared them both pretty bad and the bear took off into the woods. No, she did not hit it.
Back at the campground, we gave them the long tour of the trailer. They were impressed and really liked it. They are thinking of renting one for a summer and traveling and are now more convinced that they would like it.
Tuesday we pretty much chilled. Mrs. C. and I walked down to the office to exchange some paperback books. Other than a few loads of laundry, that was pretty much it.
Wednesday we made our way to Gettysburg.
