Trippin

On Friday, 5/9, we went with Doug and Glo up to Huntsville, TN to ride a train. Doug had called and made reservations for us. When we got there, just one good ole boy (Scott Co. has lots of them) was there. Seems the train was not running after all. There had been some problems with the engine. We were told to come back some time and ride for 1/2 price. We did get to get on the train and have a little "self-guided tour". It is in pretty rough shape. TM took a walk down the tracks to see what was around the bend (more track). After that tour, we went to Cove Lake State Park and toured the campground - very nice. We went looking for the Tennessee Battleship Museum. We found it on the high school grounds along with the Scott Co. Museum. Both extremely interesting. The Tennessee was next to the Arizona at Pearl Harbor and took some damage. They got repaired and were crusing within a week. The owners of the museum are passionate about what they do and were very informative.
On Monday, 5/12, five of us loaded into the suburban and traved to Greeneville and Rogersville. Here is Apryl's take on that trip:
After a fabulous visit with Jack & Sarah, we drive to Greeneville Machine & Iron Works to see Willis, Barbara, and Lisa. As we pull into the minuscule parking lot, TM says, "Be sure Cleo is on a leash because their cat does not like dogs." Apryl obediently clips the leash to Cleo's collar and allows her to jump out of the Suburban. BAM! Cleo is attacked by Garfield the cat who does not like dogs. Cleo is shocked and Apryl is stupefied! Pulling Cleo to her, she attempts to pick up the puppy when BAM! Garfield leaps onto Cleo's back. Cleo shakes her off, looks around wondering what is happening, Apryl stomps at the cat, and TM yells, "I told you she didn't like dogs." Pardon me, but I expect a cat that doesn't like dogs to hiss at them and then run...not ATTACK! Apparently, TM thought we all interpreted his warning as "this cat wants to kill all dogs." Luckily, no one was hurt and Lisa assured us that it wasn't personal, Garfield attacks ALL dogs...she even tries to claw at them thru closed windows. Perhaps TM will alter his description of Garfield. Believe it or not, Cleo still wants to be the first one out of the car!
After the drama, we had a pleasant visit and then journeyed to Rogersville and more excitement...
