Well, after about 24 hrs of rain, it turned off cloudy. We did go downtown and checked out the Corn Palace. Interesting place. Right now the outside decor for this year is incomplete, but will be ready for their August shindig. The interior is nothing to get excited about. However it was neat to look at the photos of the place thru the years. TM especially liked seeing the old cars.
Went to Sunday services at the small (only) congregation there and enjoyed it. The teacher/preacher studies at Bear Valley and sticks to the Bible, not a lot of extraneous stuff. We were also invited to stay for the pot luck lunch (have we gotten lucky with that or what?). As always good food and good fellowship.
We took the hour scooter ride to Huron to see the SD Merci Boxcar. After a little roaming around, we found it - On 3rd st., not 1st st. as the internet had told us. It is in good shape and they seem to be taking care of it. We went across the street to the Dakotaland Museu
m, where we were greeted by a very nice lady willing to tell us about the area and the things in the museum. They have a lot of neat stuff! They could use a bigger building in order to display it better, but at least they have it out. There was even a photo of the Merci boxcar when it arrived in 1949. TM really enjoyed the farm machinery and tools.

We went to the Dakota Discovery Museum on the grounds of Dakota Wesleyan U. Very interesting displays of the history and the Lewis and Clark expedition. Upstairs was a collection
of watches and clocks and 2 art galleries (SD artists, of course. There was a wooden threshing machine at lest as large as our trailer! Then we toured the Beckwith House. Mr. Beckwith was the driving force behind the 
Corn Palace and donated to land it was originally built on. The house was given to the museum several years ago and moved to the grounds. The previous owners had converted 1/2 of the house to an apartment, so it is walled off right now. The part we saw was elaborately decorated. Unlike Southern homes, the rooms are smaller with lower ceilings.

The Dimock SD Train Depot, A 1-room schoolhouse, and a church building. Also there was a large shed with farm equipment that TM again enjoyed looking at.
