Rolling Again

Up early to finish packing and have breakfast. We got on the road at our target time - 10am.
This is such a lovely part of the country. My Uncle Ray once told me that Connecticut was the armpit of the nation. Obviously, I have not been to the part he was in, because I think it is just beautiful. There are rolling hills, woodland, rivers and farm land. Even Hartford isn't too bad. Of course I haven't tried living here like he did.
We had a pleasant, uneventful drive. As you know by now, that is our favorite kind. We stopped at a rest area and the girls scouts had set up a "coffee break". They were giving out coffee, iced tea, and homebaked goodies. The brownies were very good. The cold tea wasn't very cold, but that was ok.
As we made the exit at Sturbridge, it kind of looked like the middle of nowhere. Well, maybe not really since there were 2 gas stations and a restaurant. We turned on to Masapaug Rd. and it was all woods and few houses. Traveling Man really thought we had made a wrong turn. At the 1st curve we saw a sign and we thought we had found it, but, alas, it was a church. Luckily TM couldn't find a turnaround, because within about 1/4 mile, we found the campground. It did sort of sneak up on us. When we registered, they sent us to "D" section so we could have full hook-up. The first campsite we pulled into was a real disappointment as there was barely any room. Again, we did the smart thing and walked around a little. Aha! nice, roomy, shaded spot about 6 slots down. Were we glad. We set up in almost record time, as we wanted to get the a/c going. (it helps that this is a fairly level spot.)Oh, did I mention it was about 90 degrees, the beginning of a heat wave? We got both a/c units and the fan going at top speed. It really didn't take to long to cool it down to a bearable temp
Sunday morning we found the congregation in Southbridge, about 10 minutes from our door. We got there early as usual and found that nobody does that. At 9:30 (starting time) there were very few people in the building. Class started at 9:40 and the crowd quickly began to grow. I would say the room held about 75 people and by time for services to start, it was pretty full. They are actually a little loose on their times. The Bible class centered on the book of James, one of my favorites. The "worship time" included 2 good readings from the Bible. The song leader was very good and the singing was good. The man who spoke (they have no preacher) was intense. This man loves the Lord and can't wait to tell you about Him. He centered on "Why are we here today?"
We were invited to lunch with some of the families, but needed to get back to the trailer and check on Momma Traveler. We came home, fixed country ham, gravy and biscuits and then pretty much stayed out of the heat.
